Norway helps Romania with over EUR 300 M non-reimbursable funds

After collaborating with Romania in projects that have already come to fruition, Norway continues to back the Romanian business environment in 2009-2014 too.

Thus, the first projects for the tapping of non-reimbursable funds of EUR 305 M offered by Norway can be filed starting with 2012. The projects may concern several domains such as environment, health, sustainable production and energy efficiency.

The most important projects financed from Norwegian funds are seven in number. A centre for technology based on induction processes is 75 per cent complete in Bucharest. A centre for children with rare diseases is 80 per cent complete in Zalau.

A maritime business incubator is already operational in Constanta, already having five businesses in incubation stages. A centre for children with development problems is 75 per cent complete in Bucharest. Likewise, a large unit for the production of medical equipment has already been completed in Iasi. Also worth mentioning is the already operational fruit processing unit in Odorheiul Secuiesc.

The seventh project is 60 per cent complete and consists of the atmospheric research centre in Magurele. The centre will be the most complex in South-East Europe and will have technologies that will be very useful in investigating climate change. The largest university centres in Romania – the University of Cluj, the University of Timisoara, the University of Bucharest and the University of Iasi – are involved in the project.
